Elle S Appelle
Elle s'appelle are in the most conventional sense of the word, a band. More specifically, a three piece guitar band from Liverpool without guitars. Courtesy of Andy (vocals/bass), Lucy (keyboards/vocals) and Owen (drums).
Elle s'appelle played their very first gig together on June 1st 2007 at Liverpool Barfly and featured as Steve Lamacq's ˜unsigned band of the week˜ the following week. The band have since enjoyed live radio sessions for Huw Stephens at Maida Vale, Marc Riley for 6music and Clint Boone for XFM.
Their ridiculously good debut single ˜Little Flame˜ was written and recorded in Andy's mum's house. Moshi Moshi promptly released the track as a 7inch and all 1000 copies sold out the same day.
To apprechiate Elle s'appelle's lyrics, here is the compulsory reading list:
'The Melancholy death of Oyster Boy' by Tim Burton
'Dirty Beasts and Rotten Rhymes' by Roald Dahl
The Complete works of Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen
